TEAM NEWS:
Sunderland have a problem in defence. Titus Bramble and Michael Turner remain long-term absentees and, at Fulham on Saturday, Anton Ferdinand was ruled out for a month with a hamstring problem.

David Meyler returned for his first start at Craven Cottage and he could retain his place but Asamoah Gyan may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Bolton miss Mark Davies, sent-off in the 2-1 win over Blackburn last weekend, so Matty Taylor could return.

Becoming a big fan of Sunderland, they work hard and play well together. Big fan of Steve and always have been. Soft spoken, wise, and fierce when he needs to be.
